Vango groundsheet protectors
A groundsheet protector can be used as a first line of defence right at ground level, stopping anything sharp or unwanted from being able to come into direct contact with the tent and its own groundsheet that's placed on top. It's a really useful item to have at your disposal because it offers peace of mind, practical protection against rips and tears and therefore the lengthening of your tents lifespan. Protecting against stones, thorns and other potential hazards, it also means that you will have a comfortably flat and safe patch of ground to then place your tent on top of.
An added bonus of a groundsheet protector is that when it comes to packing down, having used a groundsheet protector will also mean that your tent will have made little to no contact with the ground and as such should require a lot less cleaning and drying, and groundsheet protectors themselves are easy to clean.
Vango carpets
In addition to a groundsheet protector we would recommend that you consider adding another layer in the form of a fitted Vango tent carpet. A tent carpet provides another layer of protection and comfort, only inside the tent. It adds lots in terms of softness and warmth, and can offer a little more comfort for those looking for it.
Practical and durable options
The Vango groundsheet protector range is extremely hydrophobic, with some of the protectors offering 6000 HH. HH or Hydrostatic head, is used as a measure of waterproofing and represents the amount of water pressure the waterproof fabric can withstand before water begins to leak through. It represents in mm the maximum height a vertical column of water would have to be when placed onto the fabric before the fabric leaks, so for a 6000 HH rated fabric you are looking at a 6 metre column of water. Sounds impressive doesn't it?
In practical terms when it comes to tents, groundsheets and the like, a higher HH rating means a greater length of time a fabric will last before leaking begins. So, really HH represents the lifespan of a fabric before it will need re-waterproofing or replacing.
